Overview
Join the NIST National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) on May 20, 2025, for an afternoon workshop focused on exploring resources to manage cybersecurity and privacy risks for organizations processing genomic data.
Innovations in genomic data processing propel scientific and medical research forward, enhancing health outcomes and bolstering organizational competitiveness within the biotechnology sector. However, these breakthroughs also introduce cybersecurity challenges that impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, while raising economic, privacy, and national security concerns.
The NCCoE is actively collaborating with the genomic data community to address these risks, developing voluntary cybersecurity and privacy risk management guidelines, tools, and resources for organizations processing genomic data.
Key discussion topics will include updates to the Genomic Data Profile, cybersecurity and privacy threat modeling, and a privacy-preserving federated learning environment for genomic data. During this event in-person participants will have the opportunity to engage and share input on these topics and inform future research.
The registration deadline is May 13, 2025.
Please note that registration is for in-person attendance only. There is no fee to attend. Those not able to participate in person will be able to view the live stream.
