Workshop

An Introduction to Draft SP 800-157 Rev 1, Derived PIV Credentials and SP 800-217, PIV Federation

The workshop will introduce two recently published Draft Special Publications (SPs):  Public Draft SP 800-157 Revision 1 Guidelines for Derived Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credentials and Public Draft SP 800-217 Guidelines for the Use of PIV Credentials with Federation. These two SPs are complements to FIPS 201-3, which defines the requirements and characteristics of government-wide interoperable identity credentials used by federal employees and contractors.

The workshop will cover the expanded set of derived PIV credentials as outlined in Draft Revision 1 of SP 800-157 to include PKI and non-PKI-based phishing resistant multi-factor authenticators. The workshop also details the technical requirements on the use of federated PIV identity and the interagency use of assertions to implement PIV federations backed by PIV identity accounts and PIV credentials.
