NCCoE Migration to PQC Community of Interest Meeting

Description

On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) will host a hybrid Migration to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Community of Interest workshop.  The event will convene industry and government participants in the NCCoE PQC project to discuss challenges, strategies, and initial findings to ease migration from the current set of public-key cryptographic algorithms to replacement algorithms that are cryptographically relevant to quantum computer-based attacks. During this event, the Community of Interest members will get the opportunity to:

  • Meet the NIST Migration to PQC project team and consortium members.
  • Receive an overview of the NIST PQC standardization efforts and NCCoE Migration to PQC project.
  • Attend a panel discussion on Discovery of Public-Key Cryptography Components and Associated Assets in the Enterprise.
  • Attend a panel discussion on Interoperability Challenges to Implementing Quantum-Resistant Algorithms.
  • Hear what the next steps are for the project.

There will be plenty of time for audience questions throughout the workshop.

Background

NIST has initiated a process to solicit, evaluate, and standardize one or more quantum-resistant public-key cryptographic algorithms (https://csrc.nist.gov/projects/post-quantum-cryptography). To complement this effort, the NCCoE has established a Migration to PQC consortium composed of industry and government collaborators to develop actionable guidance for organizations interested in preparing for the migration to post-quantum cryptography or implementing the algorithms in various protocols and technology. The first publication from this effort was published in April 2023, Preliminary Draft Volume A, Migration to Post-Quantum Cryptography: Preparation for Considering the Implementation and Adoption of Quantum Safe Cryptography. Other volumes are planned to follow in the coming months.

Recording Note: Portions of the event may be recorded and audience Q&A or comments may be captured. The recorded event may be edited and rebroadcast or otherwise made publicly available by NIST. By registering for — or attending — this event, you acknowledge and consent to being recorded.
