NIST’s National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence Renews Partnerships With State, County
The Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the state of Maryland and Montgomery County, Maryland, have renewed their partnership in support of the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE), a collaborative hub where industry, government and academic experts work together to solve pressing cybersecurity challenges.
Watch the Cybersecurity Connections Launch event held at the NCCoE
Overview
The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) was formed in 2012 to bring together experts from industry, government, and academia to address the real-world needs of securing complex IT systems and protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure.
As the partnership establishing NCCoE is renewed, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Maryland Department of Commerce, and Montgomery County are launching an initiative to expand and take advantage of connections based on NCCoE’s work and capabilities.
With a special focus on small businesses, the goals are:
- to better address the cybersecurity-related needs of companies and institutions in the state and county – whether they are consumers or providers of cybersecurity solutions
- to help NCCoE better understand the cybersecurity needs of companies and to expand collaborations with firms that can develop practical solutions
- to spur economic development
The NCCoE’s partners are inviting businesses and others to the official launch of this Connections Initiative to learn how they can connect with other companies as well as federal, state, local, and academic organizations to meet their needs as cybersecurity consumers and their potential as cybersecurity providers.
