Cybersecurity Connections Event and Networking Lunch: Mitigating Cybersecurity Risks in the Healthcare Sector
Location
National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE), 9700 Great Seneca Hwy, Rockville, MD 20850
Format
In-person only. A virtual option is not available.
Description
Join us on November 7, 2023, for an NCCoE panel discussion and networking lunch! The rapid pace of technological innovation and increased reliance upon internet-connected devices and systems within the healthcare sector creates opportunities for malicious actors to, for example, interfere with the care of a patient or the operation of a healthcare delivery organization. The NCCoE’s Healthcare Lab collaborates with healthcare delivery organizations, life sciences organizations, government, academia, and technology providers to identify and address the sector’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges. Our guidance covers a broad spectrum of the healthcare landscape, including securing electronic mobile health records, wireless infusion pumps, and telehealth remote patient monitoring ecosystems. This panel will convene healthcare cybersecurity experts to discuss opportunities to mitigate cybersecurity risk in healthcare delivery organizations and will also feature the NCCoE Healthcare Lab’s current projects and opportunities for collaboration.
The panel will be followed by a networking lunch, sponsored by Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, on behalf of Montgomery County, Maryland.

Background
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Maryland Department of Commerce, and Montgomery County have launched an initiative, called Cybersecurity Connections, to expand and take advantage of connections based on NCCoE’s work and capabilities. Part of the initiative includes a regular cadence of in-person workshops that will provide the business community with opportunities to visit the NCCoE, meet our subject matter experts, learn about our work, and understand how to get involved in projects. Each event will showcase a different NCCoE project in order to address diverse interests throughout the series.
