NCCoE Expansion Celebrated at State House

On Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Maryland State House, U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (Md.), Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Montgomery County Maryland Executive Isiah Leggett and Maryland’s Secretary of Economic Development Dominick Murray joined Under Secretary of Commerce and NIST Director Patrick Gallagher to celebrate the signing of the Partnership Intermediary Agreement. Leaders of Intel, Cisco, and Hewlett-Packard, three of the center’s 19 National Cybersecurity Excellence Partners, also attended the ceremony.

The agreement among NIST, the State of Maryland, and Montgomery County will expand the NCCoE in both size and scope, providing the center with a larger, permanent home. There, the state, county and NIST will continue to collaborate with NCCoE to advance the adoption of secure, standards-based technologies and develop the NCCoE as a hub for collaboration and technology transfer among government and industry, incubator space for new technologies, and resource for workforce development.
