Members of the Mitigating IoT-Based DDoS project team will participate in the IETF Hackathon in Montreal, Canada on July 20-21, 2019 where they will share practical implementations of the MUD technology and collaborate with the IETF participants on a number of planned activities leveraging the base MUD components as described in RFC 8520, Manufacturer Usage Description Specification.

The purpose of this workshop is to identify perceived issues and challenges in secure IPv6 deployment in enterprises as planning input to a planned NCCoE demonstration project in this area. NIST will present its preliminary plans for this project and we solicit presentations from industry and other parties on their views of the challenges in secure IPv6 deployment in the enterprise, and/or enabling technologies and best practices to address perceived challenges.

A NIST practice guide contains suggestions for how to prevent the use of stolen credit card data in online shopping. The guide, currently in draft format and expected to post in final form in June, is designed to help prevent credential stuffing and account takeovers, as well as remedy vulnerabilities such as failure to lock out users who enter multiple incorrect passwords. The guidelines work with existing technologies, NCCoE says; the agency worked with RSA and Splunk, among others, to test the ideas. The guide does not study how security would work for customers who prefer to shop as a guest or who shop on mobile devices.

Nakia Grayson, NIST's PI for the Supply Chain Assurance project and Andy Regensheid, NIST's Hardware-Rooted Security project lead will be speaking on May 8th at 1pm about the NCCoE’s new “Validating the Integrity of Servers and Client Devices: Supply Chain Assurance” project.
