NCCoE Speaker Series: STEM learning

In this NCCoE Speaker Series, Captain Kathryn (Kay) Hire, USN, will talk about her experiences as a pioneer in the Navy, as a NASA astronaut, as one of the first women to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, and as the first woman in U.S. military history to be assigned to combat aircrew. She will share her thoughts on how STEM education, among other attributes, can open up possibilities and encourage people to enter into fields they hadn’t considered before. Ultimately, encouraging STEM skills and applying them in the real world can lead to further strengthening of the nation’s cybersecurity resilience.

2016 Retail Cyber Intelligence Summit

NCCoE Senior Security Engineer Bill Newhouse will present Working Together: Addressing Retail Cybersecurity with Standards and Best Practices on Monday, April 25 from 10:40am to 11:30am at the Retail Cyber Intelligence Summit in Chicago. This session will focus on specific challenges in the retail and payment ecosystems and how the NCCoE is working with stakeholders from across the retail ecosystem to address important retail cybersecurity issue

NCCoE deputy director Nate Lesser will be speaking on a panel titled, "Quantifying Cyber Risk: A Manual for Holistic Enterprise Risk and Senior Security Professionals," at the Security Innovation Network's IT Security Entrepreneurs Forum (ITSEF) 2016. How NIST is Approaching Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC) and Why It Works

NCCoE cybersecurity engineer, Bill Fisher, will discuss how ABAC enables organizations to take into account contextual factors when managing identity and access control, allowing for more granular analysis and therefore better access decisions. 

Hosted by NCCoE partner, NextLabs, the webinar will explore why ABAC is becoming a priority for many organizations and how it can be implemented to reduce the risk of cyber breaches and internal misuse of sensitive information.
